Many athletes dream of participating in the Olympics. They each have their own reasons for wanting to do so. For those who are just becoming athletes, they may find that looking for the right inspiration will help them achieve their goals.
Pyeongchang Olympians
With the latest Olympic event behind them, many of the Olympians will reflect back on what their inspiration for participating was. Each of those who do this will have their own story to tell. For some, it may be their parents. It may be no more than the encouragement and support that they offer. Even those who do not make it to the Olympic level will attribute their inspiration to their parents. A prime example of this is Wojtek Wolski who is one of the well-known Team Canada hockey players. Wojtek has no issues with sharing his story of inspiration.
Mentors
Most aspiring athletes have coaches who lead them along the path of success. For some of these young athletes, they will pay homage to their coaches as their inspiration. It is the coach’s driving force which takes many young athletes to the next level.
Past Athletes
Then, for others, they may turn to past athletes as their inspiration. Some will follow these professionals carefully by learning what their trials and tribulations were along the way to their success.
Educators
Some athletes will go well back into their past and look at their previous educators as their inspiration. Many times, it is the teachers throughout the school years who encourage the students to push themselves and believe in themselves. This mode of teaching can, and often does, spill over into other aspects of an individual’s life.
There is no doubt that every Olympian needs some form of inspiration as they aspire to reach the highest goal of their athletic career.
