After the defeat in the play-off round, Scotland was no longer in the World Men’s Curling Championship. Hosts Canada were the one who knocked them out.
On the other hand, Cananda has proved their strength during the play-off games with six continuous wins straightly against Scotland. Canada won 4-1 ahead, following by Scotland pulling the score back to 4-3. However, Canada kept on stretching their power by winning 6-4 into the final end.
Team Mouat could not handle to pull back the score and had to admit their defeat. After the games, Canada stepped forward to the semi-final. Right there they will meet Switzerland for the next game. In another game, Japan will face Sweden. The Asian representative took the ticket into the semi final by beating USA 7-6 in the previous game.
Before the defeat in the last game of play-off, Scotland made an excitement by managing to get through the game facing Canada. Bruce Mouat team was expected to defeat Canada and get into the semi-final place. They had won Italy 9-5 in the previous game on Saturday. The victory sent them directly to the 6th place and made a new record of eight wins and four draws during the games that had participated.
However, Canada was appreciated as a strong team not only because they are the host of the Championship, but they consists of skillful players. Scotland was successful to beat Canada in the round-robin, so they hoped to win over Canada again. With full of confidence ahead to the last game of play-off, it was a shock for Bruce Mouat and his team to lose the ticket to the semi-final.
